The different types of Rotis you can make on an Iron Tawa
Share
If you're bored of having the same chapati every day, and don't want the unhealthy options made from White Flour/ Maida, here are some healthy and interesting options that you can try. You can use your newly bought hammered iron tawa for that.
Madua Roti
A Roti made from Ragi Flour. Add in a little wheat flour to help with the binding. You can add more wheat if you prefer a softer Roti. Make half the number of Rotis that you make with wheat flour and Madua Rotis tend to be more filling.
Lehsu Roti
A Lehsu Roti is a Roti made from wheat flour and filled with Ragi flour. It's a larger and more filling roti and goes great with Gahat ka Dal or Mutton Curry. Again, make half the number of Atta Rotis you usually make.
Chholi Roti
Halfway between a Roti and a Dosa, a Chholi Roti is made a bit differently from other Rotis. Other Rotis are made from rolled unleavened dough. For a Chholi Roti you need to make a batter and then lay out the batter in a circle on a tawa (like a pancake or a dosa). Chholi Rotis can be made from wheat, ragi or rice flour.
