Made of heavy bell metal, the Bhaddu has been traditionally used in Kumaon to cook outdoors over a wood or coal fire. It's the perfect barbecue vessel and great for cooking slowly. It has also been used to slow cook high nutrition hardy lentils in Kumaon. In the traditional kitchen, a Katora is used to cover the Bhaddu. To add weight, water is filled in the Katora.

To use a Bhaddu, you first coat the sides with mud and let it dry. After that place it on a grid over the fire. Ensure that you have a few rocks to keep the Bhaddu stable. You can now start cooking in it.

  • Storage: Store in a cool dry place, and keep away from sunlight.

Care Instructions

Wash thoroughly after every use. Cover the sides with mud to prevent the fire from blackening the sides.
